Power of Attorney (abbreviated as POA) is a commonly utilized instrument in Turkey to streamline the title deed conveyance processes, eliminating the need for time-consuming travel. When you grant someone a POA, you are essentially legally stating, “You may act on my behalf for these powers,” and for all transactions conducted with a POA granted by you, you will be held responsible. Therefore, it is advisable to grant Power of Attorney exclusively to professional estate agents or registered and certified solicitors. It is also recommended to provide POA for a limited duration and only for the specific powers that the attorney would require. Giving a general POA with full powers is strongly discouraged.

A Power of Attorney should only encompass powers necessary for specific procedures, typically including the authority to purchase real estate on your behalf and obtain electric and water connections.
